‘Disco Leg’, Anxiety and Sacral Chakra Over-Stimulation

I do not know if you have noticed a phenomenon sweeping the planet that seems to be reaching almost pandemic proportions. It is what I refer to as being ‘disco leg.’ Of course, if you do not know what a ‘disco’ is then you may have absolutely no idea what I am talking about.

You do not have to be too observant to notice the relatively recent phenomenon of ‘disco leg’ out there in the world.

Men do it, women do it, Dads do it, Mum’s do it, adolescents do it, chances are you might do it or know someone doing it. Whether it is at home, at work, at school, at restaurants or in cafes, disco leg is alive and flourishing. Disco leg seems to be a universal issue that is relatively recent amongst the population. It is not limited to race, gender, creed or culture and seems to be spreading like wildfire.

Once you become aware of disco leg at a physical and metaphysical level it is hard to miss.

If I am in the same room or space as someone who is ‘disco legging,’ I can energetically feel it from across the room or space. A little like energetic waves or in some cases tidal waves rippling out across the metaphysical pool or sea of energy we live in.

WHAT IS 'DISCO LEG'?

Disco leg is the common name for unconscious frequent leg bouncing or continuous leg jiggling that is a very rapidly spreading behaviour. Disco leg is the unconscious habit of moving one leg and sometimes two simultaneously up and down very quickly while sitting. This rapid leg jiggling appears to be involuntarily and can occur anywhere a person is sitting; commuting, at the office, at a café, eating in a restaurant or at home watching TV.

WHAT CAUSES 'DISCO LEG'?

At a purely physical level, disco leg is essentially a symptom of anxiety induced stress.

Disco leg is a form of energy displacement and is usually indicative of either emotional or mental anxiety or both. It is one of the body’s reactions to stress and is one of the methods it uses to dissipate stress.

According to neurologists, disco leg is induced through an excessive build-up of nervous energy which results in an excessive build-up of stress hormones in the body. These are stress hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol. Over a long period of time, stress can accumulate in the body which causes the body to remain in a high state of alert and in so doing causing it to release a constant supply of stress hormones which creates an excessive build-up.

A person’s nervous system can become overloaded for numerous reasons.

These can include:

    • Nervous overstimulation

    • Lack of sleep

    • Feeling disempowered

    • Perceiving an existential threat

    • Constant noise, and tumult

    • Sudden change

THE CHAKRAS AND 'DISCO LEG'

It is certainly true that humanity is under an unprecedented level of anxiety and stress at a physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels as the world as we know it changes rapidly around us far faster than we seem to be able to cope with it. This rapid rate of change and the associated anxiety and stress on all levels of our organism, affects us both physically as well as metaphysically.

When viewed from a holistic perspective disco leg is not just a physical phenomenon but is symptomatic of imbalance or imbalances in the Chakra System.

The human chakra system is comprised of seven main chakras that are aligned with the spinal column.

The seven main chakras are:

  1. Base chakra
  2. Sacral chakra
  3. Solar Plexus chakra
  4. Heart chakra
  5. Throat chakra
  6. Third eye chakra
  7. Crown chakra

In occult terminology the Chakras are the ‘conditioners of consciousness’ and they have a metaphysical correlation to specific nerve plexuses in the central nervous system. Seen in a holistic context, anxiety and stress are chakra associated conditions and therefore need to be addressed at this level of the holistic being so they can be resolved.

THE SACRAL CHAKRA OVER-STIMULATION

At a metaphysical level, disco leg is primarily associated with the Sacral Chakra and with over-stimulation of the Sacral Chakra.

The Sacral Chakra is associated with our relationship with life, our emotions and with our emotional experiences including the pleasure-pain principle. It is also the chakra that is associated with our ability to change, cope with change and process change.

Sacral Chakra overstimulation is endemic in 21st century life and there are few people who are not exhibiting some symptoms of overstimulation at an emotional level. This reality is evident in the epidemic emotionality, irrationality and reactivity that characterises much of what occurs on social media.

People are often not aware of how emotionally and mentally ‘wound-up’ they are as it takes very little to trigger an emotional or metal overreaction either on social media interactions or actual physical social encounters.

Sacral overstimulation means the Sacral Chakra is out of balance and may be either under-compensating but is usually over-compensating.

SOME OF THE SIGNS OF AN UNDER-COMPENSATING SACRAL CHAKRA:

    • feeling anxious

    • feeling uncomfortable or threatened by emotional change

    • suppressed emotional needs

    • inhibited emotional responses, feelings, sensual or sexual expression

    • guilt or anxiety around pleasure, emotional or sexual intimacy

    • avoiding sexuality

    • a sense of sexual frigidity or impotence

    • sexually or emotionally shut down

    • feeling emotionally numb

    • diminished desire, passion or excitement

    • difficulties in relationships

    • timidity, shyness

    • emotional issues around sexual capabilities

SOME OF THE SIGNS OF AN OVER-COMPENSATING SACRAL CHAKRA:

    • unpredictable reactive emotional responses

    • feeling extremely emotional

    • excessive out-of-control emotions

    • emotional swings or mood swings

    • obsessive emotional attachments or addiction to pleasure

    • sexual junkie, sexual obsessions or sexual acting out

    • poor sense of emotional boundaries

    • emotional dependency or manipulation

    • uncertainty or ambivalence about your own feelings

It is not uncommon for a chakra to swing between an under-compensating or over-compensating expression.

ADDRESSING THE ISSUE AT A METAPHYSICAL LEVEL

Given that the causative factors that produce stress and anxiety are exponentially intensifying ‘Disco Leg’ is not only going to keep spreading but it will also be with us for the foreseeable future. Mainstream medicine does not understand the underlying metaphysical causes that produce it and does not have the means to successfully address or treat it.

As a general rule, the means to address and resolve disco leg at a metaphysical level is to initially work at a chakra level with the Sacral Chakra.

There may also be other causative factors at a chakra level that need to be addressed. For example, a person may be experiencing anxiety and stress due to an issue that is soul based. In that instance you would work with the Heart Chakra.

The principal here being an imbalanced Sacral Chakra or in fact any imbalanced chakra can impact on the rest of the chakras so it can often be necessary to work with a number of chakras or the whole chakra system to address and resolve chakra imbalance.

This can be simply and cost effectively done by working with the First Light Flower Essences of New Zealand® tree collection of chakra essences No’s 44-50 which are specially formulated for balancing, strengthening, protecting and clearing the chakras.

The seven tree essences and their correlations to the seven main chakras are:

MY RECOMMENDATION OPTION 1: SINGLE ESSENCE FOR SACRAL CHAKRA BALANCE

Use First Light Flower Essences of New Zealand® tree essence No 45 Matai to balance, strengthen and protect the sacral chakra.

Take 2-4 drops 3-4 times a day or as desired. Take for as long as required.

MY RECOMMENDATION OPTION 2: A SIMPLE CHAKRA CLEANSE AND DETOX (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED):

As mentioned above, when one chakra is out of balance it can impact on the rest of the chakra system so I often recommend the Chakra Cleanse and Detox to my clients to help cleanse, detoxify and bring into balance the seven chakras.

This metaphysical detoxification program is also recommended for those experiencing chronic or ongoing health issues that they have not been able to overcome or move beyond.

The Chakra Cleanse and Detox program is done by taking the seven tree essences No’s 44-50 together in a blend. Place 2-4 drops from the 25ml flower essence blend bottle on the tongue 3-4 times a day or as required.

You can have a Chakra Cleanse and Detox Blend made for you:

Simply type in the tree essence numbers 44-45-46-47-48-49-50 in the Self-Selection Blend on my website and your blend will be posted to you.

You can make your own Chakra Cleanse and Detox Blend:

Add 3 drops of each of the seven tree essences No’s 44-50 to a 25ml glass dropper bottle.

How long to use the essences for

What I find is that many people have had either one or multiple chakras out of balance for so long that they no longer know how their physical and metaphysical organism ‘feels’ when the chakras are functioning in balance and in their optimum condition. For that reason, I recommend taking the essences for a minimum of two months as a starting point, then use whenever you ‘feel’ any of the chakras starting to get out of balance and express in an over-compensating or under-compensating way.

WHERE TO FIND MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE SEVEN CHAKRAS AND HOW TO CORRECT SPECIFIC CHAKRA IMBALANCES

Detailed information about each of the seven chakras and how to recognise their over-compensating or under-compensating expression is provided in my book The Sacred Plant Medicine of Aotearoa Volume One, and in my First Light® Trees – Personal Power online course.
